Roberto Forés Veses
Musical and Artistical director of Orchestre d’Auvergne
A poet of sounds, sculpting the orchestra’s sonority
In 2012, Roberto Forés Veses was appointed chief conductor and artistic director of the Orchestre d’Auvergne, which has toured successfully in Japan – with Naoko Yoshino (harp) – and Brasil.
Born in Valencia (Spain), Roberto Forés Veses studied orchestral conducting at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he received his Master Degree under Leif Segerstam. In 2006, he won the Orvieto Conducting Competition (Italy) with a special prize from the jury. In 2007, he was also one of the winners of the Evgeny Svetlanov Conducting Competition in Luxembourg.
He is an extremely versatile conductor, devoted both to the symphonic and to the operatic repertoire. In 2008 he made his debut at the Teatro Regio de Torino conducting Salome and Elisir d’amore, and at the Bolshoi with Macbeth. In the following years he conducted several French operas: Il viaggio a Reims and Don Pasquale, La Cenerentola, Lakmé, Die Zauberflöte, L’italiana in Algeri, The Barber of Seville. He also conducted Cosi fan tutte, La Finta Giardiniera and La Bohème, in Avignon, Vichy, Helsinki, Rouen, Orvietto… He recently conducted the world premiere of B.R. Earl’s La regina dei capelli d’oro at the Stresa Festival (Italy).
Roberto Forés Veses has conducted many orchestras including the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Prague Philharmonia, Saint-Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica da Porto Casa da Música, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orquestra de Valencia, Orchestre de Picardie, Orchestre philharmonique de Nice, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Het Residentie Orchestra, Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Saint-Etienne, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Sinfonia Finlandia, Asturias Symphony Orchestra, Moscow City Symphony – Russian Philharmonic, Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto…
He regularly performs in many international festivals, including La Folle Journée de Nantes and Tokyo, La Chaise-Dieu, Murten Classics, Stresa Festival, Les Flâneries musicales de Reims, Festival de la Vézère, Festival des Monts de la Madeleine, Festival de Polignac, Les Grandes Heures de Cluny, Festival Bach en Combrailles, Berlioz Festival…
Maestro Forés Veses records regularly with the Aparté Record Label and Warner Classics. Recent recordings (2015) with Orchestre d’Auvergne include albums with Romain Leleu and Naoko Yoshino.
A new album dedicated to Tchaikovsky’s Serenade and Sibelius’ Voces Intimae has also been released at Aparté Records. His projects include, among others, three monographic albums dedicated to Beethoven, Alban Berg and Schreker.
In 2016-2017, he is on tour, with the Orchestre d’Auvergne, at the Festival of La Folle Journée in Nantes, at the Paris Musée des Invalides, in South America, in the United States and in Japan.
Moreover, he performs in Rouen with the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen and in Tokyo with the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
His future projects in 2017-2018 include productions of Don Giovanni, Orfeo e Euridice and Die Entführung aus dem Serail at opera houses of Reims, Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, Massy and Avignon.…
He will also conduct the Orquesta de Extremadura, Orchestre de Poitou-Charentes, Orquesta de Valencia, Orchestre de chambre de Genève et de Lucerne, Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, and Orchestra Petrobras Sinfônica in Rio de Janeiro.
